Finding your Fitness by Lacy Knopik
I have always been a relatively active person. But I never really felt healthy. My weight fluctuated like a rollercoaster and I had tried pretty much every diet and weight loss pill you could think of. It was while we were stationed in Hawaii (which was amazing by the way) that I finally got ahold of my health and really found myself. I learned that working out doesn’t have to seem like a chore and eating healthy isn’t just salad and veggies. The key is to find an activity, class, gym, group, etc. that you look forward to going to.
The saying “you are the company you keep” applies very well when talking about health. Find friends that have similar goals and can help you keep an active and healthier lifestyle. Those people next to you on the treadmill, the ones sweating along beside you in your favorite spin class…strike up a conversation. They may just be the motivation and accountability you are looking for. When it comes to nutrition…diets don’t work. They are short term. You need to think in the long term…”can I continue this eating pattern for the rest of my life?”
You don’t have to give up your favorite guilty pleasures completely. But you need to learn balance. Eating clean, meaning less processed and more fresh foods is a sustainable “diet” and will not only help your clothes fit better…you will FEEL better!
It isn’t always easy to “clean up your lifestyle”. That is where the trainers at Inlet come in…we are here for YOU. Health and fitness is our passion, let us help you live life to your fullest!
